Hey babes! Here’s an original poem written by a GL reader just like you. Tell us what ya think in the comments.
This Is Me
I am a thinker and a dreamer
I wonder what people think—of me, of themselves
I hear the wise voices in my head, even though I never listen
I see my future unfolding like cards, splayed for all to see
I want to be a child forever—to stay innocent, naive
I am a thinker and a dreamer
I pretend to be okay, laughing to hide the tears
I feel pain in my heart, aching so terribly bad
I touch the sands of time, barely brushing them, trying to stop them
I worry about fitting in, and standing out
I cry for the pain of others—when I can’t do the same for myself
I am a thinker and a dreamer
I understand the effects of an action
I say that I’m original I dream of a better tomorrow
I try to stay in control
I hope for a perfect life
I am a thinker and a dreamer
