Ephraim Isaac was born in Ethiopia on May 29, 1936. Renowned scholar of ancient Semitic Languages & Civilization and African/Ethiopian Languages and Religion and peace activist. His efforts for peace ran concurrent with those of Ethiopian religious leader Abune Paulos. He was the founder and first professor of Afro-American Studies at Harvard University and the namesake of the Ephraim Isaac Prize for Excellence in African Studies.
